A new mixed use development in downtown Austin is projected for completion this spring, according to the Austin American Statesman.

The SoCo Lofts and Shops will consist of 69 loft-style apartments above 22,000 square feet of retail space at the southern corner of East Alpine Rd. and South Congress Ave.  This is a $65 Million Dollar development and will cover 7.3 acres. 

The loft apartments are slated for completion in April, while the retail space should be completed in June.

A 300 unit apartment project will be the second multifamily complex in the Mueller development.

Construction on the four - story building, which will be adjacent to the future Town Center, will begin this summer and wrap in 2010.   The building will feature ground floor commercial space, two story live - work units and standard apartment amenities.

Under Mueller's affordability guidelines, about 10 percent of the apartments will be reserved for families earning no more than 60 percent of Austin's median family income.  The project will seek a rating under Austin Energy's Green Building Program.
