Frost Tower to Be Sold Again!!

In what is believed to be the biggest commercial real estate deal ever in Texas, private equity firm Blackstone Group has sold it's Austin office properties to Thomas Properties Group inc. for $1.15 Billion Dollars!  The 33 story Frost Bank Tower at 300 W. 6th Street was included in the sale.  The tower has changed hands three times since last September when Equity Properties paid $188 Million for the building which was a state record of $354 per square foot.

Texas X Park in Leander

The Texas X Park recreational park has received an environmental permit from the US corps of Engineers.  Ground breaking of the new $18 Million Dollar first phase is expected later this summer.

The 205 acre  X Park will include facilities for a skate park, climbing walls, BMX tracks and beach volleyball.  Grand opening of the new X Park in Leander is tentatively scheduled for spring of 2008!

Austin's Newest Upscale Shopping at the Domain

The Domain is Austin's newest upscale shopping area.  It features numerous retailers including Neiman Marcus, Tiffany, Coach, Louis Vuitton and on and on.  The plans for this place are amazing and include a 20,000 square foot community center, 10 acre central park, 2 hotels, over 4,000 residential units, 900,000 square feet of retail space, 3 million square feet of office space, several restaurants and 2 hotels.

The only restaurant that is open right now, in phase I is the Kona Grill.  It is very good.  Check out their reverse happy hour (half price appetizers in the bar and outdoor lounge area.)

Nordstrom has signed a letter of intent to open a store at the Domain in phase II of the mixed use community.  The two level 149,000 square foot Nordstrom at The Domain will be the retailer's eighth store in Texas and 2nd store in Austin.  Phase II of the Domain will open with the Nordstrom store, which is scheduled to be completed by fall 2011.

So Much to do in Austin

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  There is so much going on in our wonderful city of Austin this weekend!  We have SXSW Music Festival, Spring Break, the Rodeo, The Bar-b-que Cook-off at the Rodeo which benefits the Scholarship Fund.  I've  also heard that the Women's NCAA Finals are being held in Austin.  I went to the Rodeo - Bar-b-que cook off last night and had a fantastic time.  Great food, fantastic people and the band in the River City Tent was awesome!
