Free Walking Tours ~  Through Nov.30th                                          Austin CVB tour guides lead guests on foot through such historic areas as the Texas Capitol Grounds, Congress Avenue, Sixth Street and the Victorian Homes of the Bremond Block.  Contact the Austin Visitor Center for tour schedules.  512-478-0098

Bat Watching ~ Through Nov. 1st                                                          Congress Ave. Bridge Bats  The 1.5 Million Mexican free-tailed bats that live beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge take flight in mass exodus each night at dusk.  Call 512-416-5700 x3 for more information.

The Big Game at the Austin Children's Museum ~ Through Sept. 22nd    Oversized games mean giant - sized fun for everyone.  In The Big Game, visitors to Austin Children's Museum will get their minds and muscles in the game as they play on jumbo sized versions of popular family - friendly games.  The Big Game is designed for children and their grown ups to sharpen their critical thinking and social skills on familiar games and discover new ones to try .  Visitors will also gain a historical and cultural perspective on well known games.  This makes for a perfect "Rainy Day" activities with the kids :)  Call 512-472-2499 for more information.

Austin Symphony Concerts in the Park ~ Sunday                                 Each Sunday through August 26th (so only 2 Sunday's left), a different ensemble will be featured under the gazebo, performing arrangements by composers from Mozart to Ellington to Rodgers & Hammerstein.  Concert goers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a family affair.  This Free Event starts at 7:30 pm.  Call 512-476-6064 for more information. 

23rd Street Artist Market ~  Daily Until Dec 31                            One of the oldest continuous craft markets in America, the old Renaissance Market on "the Drag", has featured handcrafted items, sold by the people who make them for more than 30 years.  More Vendors set up on the Weekends.  Open from 8 am til dusk.  Call 512-450-1167 for more information

Old Gruene Market Days ~ Aug 18 & 19                                    Nearly 100 vendors offer uniquely crafted items, collectibles and packaged Texas foods in the Gruene Historic District.  Market hours are 10 am - 5 pm.  Free Admission.  Call 830-832-1721

Harvest Wine Trail ~ Aug 18 - Aug 27th                                       The 22 participating wineries sprinkled throughout the hill country debut exciting new wines providing insight into their wine maker's visions.  Linger on patios, listen to live music, Lucille Ball style grape stomps and more.  Join these unique wineries as they showcase their beautiful vineyards, tasting rooms and wines.  Harvest is such a wonderful time of year it is only natural to share it with other wine lovers, desiring to experience barrel and vertical tasting of different vintages.  Collectively each winery has created attractive drawing prizes that reflect their personal lodging, dining and leisure choices.  Trail participants are eligible to enter the drawings at each winery visited.  Ticket prices are $25 per person and good for both weekends.  Call 866-621-9463 for more information.

Texas Sommelier Conference ~ Sun Aug 19 & Mon Aug 20th      Four Seasons Hotel, Austin  The third annual Texas Sommelier Conference lands in Austin for the first time.  Presented by the Texas Sommelier Association and The Wine & Food Foundation of Teas, the conference will be hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel.  Featuring some of the country's leading wine industry figures, this prestigious two-day event will include educational sessions for both wine professional as well as the general public.  The Wine and Food Foundation of Texas will be supporting the public education portions of the program on Sunday and the Texas Sommelier Association will be presenting the professional sessions on Monday.  A community wide Grand Tasting for the general public will conclude the conference Monday evening and will serve as the platform from which the Association will announce the winner of "Texas" Best Sommelier competition.  Cost varies, please visit www.texsom.com/registration.htm

Austin - Central Texas' Existing Home Market is Healthy!!

Central Texas' Market for existing Single - Family Homes Remains Healthy, according to the most recent MLS report from the Austin Board of Realtors. 

* The Number of Homes Sold in July 2007 Fell Two Percent from a Year ago to 2,645

* The Median Price increased 7 Percent from July 2006 to a record   $190,000

* Homes Remained on the Market an average of 55 Days, down 7 Percent from a Year Ago.

* Active Listing Increased by 13 Percent from July 2006 to 9,451 - While New Listings Fell by 2 Percent to 3,670

* Townhouse and Condominium Sales Rose,with July's 333 Sales Representing a 17 Percent Increase from One Year Ago.

* The Median Price for Townhouses and Condominiums Rose 36 Percent from Last July to $180,000

Wellness Center Work Begins in Round Rock

Kinsman Ventures LLC of Plano has begun work on a new 160,000 square foot medical and professional office building near Seton Medical Center Williamson and Scott and White's new hospital.

Round Rock Wellness Center, on the southwest quadrant of University Boulevard and Sunrise Road, will include an ambulatory surgical center and diagnostic center.  Office suites will range from 1,200 to 20,000 square feet.  Completion is slated for spring 2008.
