Looking for a place to retire with lots of museums? Nice weather? Good health care? Affordable homes? and........ Plenty of Golf Courses?
Heather Brown with RE/Max Austin Skyline has these statistics about living downtown in the Warehouse District of Austin, Texas:
A music lover's paradise is right outside your front door!
Pro's: Walk to Whole Foods or to one of the Many Upscale Restaurants that Austin has to Offer!
Cons: Younger Club Hoppers might keep you up Late :)
Real Estate: The most basic condos cost about $250,000. A decent one bedroom rental will start around $1,100
If Live Music is something you love - and want to see more of when you retire - there are few better American cities than Austin, the "Live Music Capital of the World." The Warehouse District is full of sounds, at venues like Cedar Door, La Zona Rosa, Antone's and Austin Music Hall
Downtown Austin is just to the east, and simply take the bridge over the river to visit the restaurants and funky shops of the famed South Congress, or SoCo, district. - Great Restaurants in SoCo District include Vespaio, Guerro's and Home Slice Pizza :) YUM!
If the Warehouse District is too gritty for you, try Travis Heights, also close to SoCo with bungalows and turn of the century houses.
