Austin Music Hall - Renovations "Rock"
May 18th, 2007 6:08 PM

Renovations to the Austin Music Hall begun this morning with partial demolition of the building.  The former warehouse which is now an Austin Landmark has been hosting musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton since 1995.

The $5 million dollar renovation will update the building's exterior, expand seating capacity to 4,000 , add a full service restaurant, improve the acoustics and last but not least improve the air conditioning system.

Direct Events, which manages the hall, is paying for the renovation.  Grand reopening is slated for October, just in time for the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar.

Magic Johnson Investing in Austin
May 17th, 2007 5:17 PM

Earvin "Magic" Johnson and his private equity fund are investing $50 Million in a $260 Million dollar project that could transform a vacant downtown block in Austin.  Plans for Block 21, include an upscale 250 room W hotel and 200 luxury condominiums in a 35 story tower.  The project will also house the Austin Children's Museum and "Austin City Limits" sound and production studio.

Prices for the condos will range from about $400,000 to more that $3 Million.

The Block 21 project is expected to create thousands of construction jobs and hundreds more jobs once the project opens.

The project is planed to break ground in September and will be built on a lot north of city hall.

Austin's Southpark Meadow's - Housing Following Retail
May 2nd, 2007 3:45 PM
Homes and apartments will soon spring up around Southpark Meadows, a 1.6 million square foot shopping center at I-35 and Slaughter Lane.  Lennar Homes plans to put 383 homes on its Reserve at Southpark Meadow, which will be built on 80 acres.Preparations for streets, utilities and drainage for the first 121 lots will begin next month.  Construction on the homes will start about six months later, with the first buyers expected to move in next April or May.  Prices will range from $280,000 to $350,000.  A second and possibly third phase would add another 260 homes in similar price ranges.  This news makes my listing at 9306 Pioneer Forest Drive (literally 2 minutes from Southpark Meadows) extremely attractive.  Please check it out on my website or give me a call!  Heather 512-751-2931 or www.heatherbrown.com
