Destination Hotels & Resorts (DH&R) will spend $4.2 million dollars upgrading Austin's historic Driskill Hotel.

The renovations are mostly cosmetic and include new decor for the the 188 guest rooms, the Driskill Grill and the hotel's 1886 Cafe & Bakery.

Austin's 121 year old downtown luxury hotel received a $30 million dollar renovation in 1999 under then-owner Great American Life Insurance Co.  The Driskill was sold to Colorado based DH&R for about $55 million dollars in 2005.

Interior design firm Vivian-Nichols Associates will oversee the hotel's revamping.
